Some people book appointments and then don't keep them. We know this can be for a variety of reasons, and we all make mistakes. However, we know that if people miss appointments they often want to re-book, and this therefore causes delays for the majority - those who book appointments and turn up!
We feel we need to tackle this; if patients miss two or three appointments within a matter of months, we will write a letter to draw their attention to the problem and ask what we can do to help. If another appointment is missed within 3 months, the patient will be asked to come and speak to the practice manager to explain what is going wrong and establish what we can do to help. If things don't improve at this point the doctors will consider whether they feel a relationship with that patient can continue or not. If they don't, the patient will be asked to register somewhere else.
