Clinics & Services

We run a range of clinics. For an appointment or further details, please call Elsdon Avenue Surgery on 0191 2372299.

Contraceptive Coils and Implants

We no longer offer this service - but we can refer you to other clinics in the area.

Antenatal

Wednesday 13:30 – 17:00

This clinic is run by the midwives. If you become pregnant, you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ at which the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the practice or at the local hospital, or both.

Child Health and Immunisation

All new babies are invited for a check-ups from six weeks old, and for a full schedule of immunisations.

Diabetes

Wednesday 09:30 – 12:00

Led by our nursing team, this clinic offers advice and appropriate screening to patients diagnosed with diabetes.

Stopping Smoking

The practice actively supports those patients who wish to stop smoking, and we have a nurse and a healthcare assistant who are both trained to offer this service.  Please ask.

We do not currently offer this service.

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Visiting practitioners provide a counselling service to the practice. They can provide help with stress, anxiety, depression and life event difficulties. Please discuss with the doctor if you would like an appointment.

Other Services

In addition to the above clinics, our practice nurses are able to offer appointments throughout the week for the following:

  • Health Checks – well man/well woman/new patient checks
  • Travel Advice – please complete a travel questionnaire prior to this appointment. It is important to make an appointment 6 weeks prior to traveling to ensure adequate protection.
  • Cervical Smears – we routinely invite patients according to current guidelines
